FAQ -- Frequently Asked Questions
- How many events will be planned for each day? One -- we will
only book one wedding per day so your day can truly be your day.
- Can we use flash photography and video? Yes, We do ask that the
photographer and videographer be discrete during the wedding ceremony but they
are certainly allowed. In fact, during certain times of the day, a flash
is necessary within our Church because of the large stained glass art across
the back wall.
- We are not particularly religious, must we have a Christian wedding?
In helping each couple create their personalized wedding ceremony, the
Pastor takes into account your religious background and desires.
The format of the ceremony will be Christian in nature and will contain
Christian prayers, a passage from the Bible and a short reflection from the Officiant.
If your background is other than Lutheran, the Pastor would love to
personalize your service with prayers and readings from your Christian
denomination. If you are interested in having an inter-religious wedding, most of our
Pastors are open to sharing the ceremony with an Officiant of another
religion. Please inquire with your specifics prior to reserving a date.
- Our wedding includes blended families, is that a problem? No,
every wedding ceremony is customized for your particular situation. We
can work with you to include everyone you want in the ceremony or honor loved
ones who have departed. Just mention it to the Pastor on your first
meeting.
- This is a second marriage for both of us. Will you perform the
ceremony? Of course, we are here to help you create a new and
beautiful future not condemn or work through your past. If you have
children from previous marriages, we suggest that they are part of the
ceremony.
- I see that pre-marital counseling is included, can we skip it?
We highly encourage all our couples to take advantage of the pre-marital
counseling which consists of a online private questionnaire whose results
become the basis of the two conversations with the Pastor. Should this
counseling reveal a larger issue that requires the help of a professional
counselor, the Pastor will recommend that the couple see a licensed therapist.
- We want a few non-traditional items in the wedding. Is this
allowed? Please speak with the Pastor and the Event Coordinator about your
request. The church has played host to several "different" weddings
including the following: Bride's brother was her "Best Man" and stood at
her side instead of with the Groomsmen, Bride was accompanied down the aisle
by her mother because her father was deceased, Groom was escorted to the altar
by the grandmother who raised him, Children from previous marriages were the
bridal party and read prayers of blessing at the ceremony,.....and many more!
- Can we have a champagne toast? Yes -- you are allowed to
serve beer or wine (including champagne) with your meal at the reception if
your caterer has the proper licenses and training. As a safeguard for
you and the Church, you must purchase event insurance to serve alcohol at the
reception.
- Can the flower girls toss rose petals during the Bride's entry?
Yes, they can sprinkle your pathway with silk rose petals that we provide.
Our white carpet is easily stained so real petals are not allowed but we have
found that by using a very high quality silk petal and using a mixture of
colors that the result looks just as festive as the real petals.
